The Cay
Otro munto aparte - a world apart
The pace is unhurried. The beaches white. The water azure blue. Barefoot Cay creates a feeling of calm and closeness with nature to a level few have experienced. Stay at Barefoot Cay and you will feel 'a world apart'. Your hosts have assured that the accommodations have all the amenities you'd expect from a luxury resort. A romantic getaway. A private retreat. Totally secure and comfortable. Drinkable tap water. A clean, airy design that caters to those who appreciate a good book and hours of uninterrupted quiet. Or, enjoy the endless activities... beachcombing, salt or freshwater swimming, snorkeling, diving, fishing, kayaking, or motorized boat touring. Barefoot Cay truly is an oasis for those who love the tropics.
Barefoot Cay is a privately owned 4-acre cay centrally located on the south shore of Roatan, just off the main road. Barefoot Cay has a dual personality - stand on its south shore and you feel like you are alone and completely away from civilization. You see the sandy beach and reef out to the open sea and on a clear day, the mountains of mainland Honduras thirty miles away can be seen. Barefoot Cay is located safely behind the reef, so even on a blustery day, a small boat or kayak can be taken all around the Cay.
On the north side, a 100-foot-wide canal separates Barefoot Cay from the island of Roatan, where a dock, secure parking for guests, and Barefoot Divers - a PADI-authorized dive center - are located. Barefoot Cay's walk-on pontoon boat crosses the short distance between the cay and the Roatan shore regularly, taking guests at a moment's notice from one side to the other at any hour of the day or night. From the dock on the shore side, there's a driveway of approximately 500 feet that leads to the main road of Roatan. Taxis pass frequently for excursions to areas to the west or east of Barefoot Cay -- or rental cars are also available.
Barefoot Cay is positioned perfectly for the trade winds to create a tropical breeze over the entire Cay. The reef is within swimming distance, and the cay's sandy, shallow beach is your playground. And it is just a short boat ride to Mary's Place or John's Spot, two of Roatan's top-rated scuba diving spots.
